Hi, my name is Mark Roehler.
I’m based in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, and at the heart of everything I do is family. I’m married, the proud parent of three children (two daughters and a son), and an even prouder grandfather to five energetic grandchildren (three boys and two girls). Family has always grounded me — and it’s also shaped how I see responsibility, safety, and the importance of doing things the right way.
My career has been full, varied, and deeply educational — sometimes by design, sometimes by necessity. I began working in the automotive sector, moved into research and development and corporate environmental support for an insulation manufacturing company, and later helped build a successful environmental consulting firm as one of the four original founding partners of LEHDER Environmental Services.
After that chapter, I stepped into what I once thought would be semi-retirement, serving as Health & Safety Manager for Montrose Environmental Group Ltd., supporting teams across Calgary, Edmonton, and Point Edward, Ontario.
Across more than 40 years of experience, I’ve worked in many disciplines — environmental compliance, hazardous waste, dangerous goods, health and safety systems, audits, and operations. But one thing has remained constant throughout every role and every industry:
My passion has always been education — and helping others understand what they’re responsible for and why it matters.
After decades of training, consulting, and managing safety systems, I saw a pattern that troubled me.
People weren’t failing because they didn’t care.
They weren’t cutting corners because they were careless.
They were struggling because training too often stopped at generic compliance — without ever connecting the regulations to the actual products, waste streams, and procedures they handled every day.
When I formed Mark Roehler Training Services, I knew I wanted to change that. But the early days weren’t easy.
I faced challenges many sole proprietors do: building a website, learning marketing from scratch, and figuring out how to translate hands-on, customized training into effective digital programs. Turning decades of real-world experience into online learning wasn’t intuitive — and it certainly wasn’t simple.
What kept me going was the same thing that always had:
a love of learning, a passion for teaching, and a deep belief that understanding regulations saves people from getting hurt.
That belief led me to build an online business focused on helping small and mid-sized companies manage their hazardous products, waste streams, transportation obligations, and safety training requirements — while continually learning how to better support them through practical, accessible digital tools.
At the core of everything we do is a simple mission:
Not generic courses.
Not checkbox compliance.
Not one-size-fits-all solutions.
We believe people learn best when training is directly connected to:
The hazardous products or waste streams they actually handle
Their facility-specific procedures and workflows
The real risks their employees face on the job
Our decisions, content, and services are guided by four core values:
Integrity in compliance — doing the right thing, even when it’s complex
Clarity over complexity — breaking regulations down without dumbing them down
Collaboration over competition — learning together and sharing best practices
Safety first — always — because every regulation was written for a reason
What sets Mark Roehler Training Services apart is not just regulatory knowledge — it’s how that knowledge is applied.
We specialize in Canadian regulatory training that is tailored to:
Your specific hazardous products or waste streams
Your facility’s standard operating procedures
The real-world decisions your employees make every day
Instead of teaching regulations in isolation, we show how TDG, WHMIS, and provincial waste regulations interact with your operation, so compliance becomes understandable, defensible, and safer in practice.
That’s how we help organizations move from compliance on paper to confidence in action.
Safety has never been just a job for me — it’s a responsibility.
I’ve been honoured to serve as Chairman of the Sarnia Steps for Life Walk for the past 15 years, supporting Threads of Life, a charity that assists families affected by workplace tragedy. Those stories — real people, real consequences — reinforce why safety training must be meaningful, not generic.
I also volunteer to provide Health & Safety Awareness Training for high school co-op students, helping young workers recognize hazards before they ever experience an injury. In addition, I support my local church and the Knights of Columbus, because community matters just as much as compliance.
The future of Mark Roehler Training Services is rooted in connection.
My vision is to build and grow the Regulatory Insights Community — a trusted space where Canadian professionals can:
Engage with peers
Share best practices
Ask practical, real-world questions
Stay current with hazardous materials and waste regulations
Most importantly, keep their employees safe
This community isn’t about selling fear or enforcing perfection.
It’s about learning together, supporting one another, and making sense of regulations that can otherwise feel overwhelming.
You’re in the right place.
Welcome to Mark Roehler Training Services.
